Surf Lessons near Sebastian, Vero Beach & the Treasure Coast
- About 45 minutes north of Sebastian
- From $99 per surfer
- Board, rash guard & wetsuit included
Sebastian and Vero Beach sit at the north end of the Treasure Coast, with Sebastian Inlet — a genuinely serious wave — on the doorstep. That is a gift for experienced surfers and a hard place to learn: fast, shallow and crowded with people who know exactly what they are doing.
We teach just under an hour north, on the soft sandbar at Cocoa Beach. Board, rash guard and wetsuit are included, sessions run every day from 9:00 AM, and a beginner here is standing up in waist-deep water rather than being washed down the beach.
Getting here from Sebastian & Vero Beach
About 45 minutes north of Sebastian
- From Sebastian, take US-1 north to SR 528 east and follow it over the causeway to Cocoa Beach — around 45 minutes.
- From Vero Beach and the Treasure Coast, I-95 north to SR 528 then east is the simplest route, roughly an hour and ten minutes.
Your confirmation names the exact beach access point, where to park and where on the sand to meet your instructor.
The beginner alternative to the inlet
Sebastian Inlet is a world-class wave and a rough classroom. Our sandbar reform happens in waist-deep water with a coach beside the board.
Under an hour from Sebastian
Up US-1 and over the SR 528 causeway. Close enough for a morning lesson and home by lunch.
Everything is on the sand
Surfboard sized to you, rash guard and wetsuit included. Bring swimwear, a towel and sunscreen.
Every age and level
First-timers, kids from 6, nervous adults and confident teens all start in the same calm, shallow water.
Why Treasure Coast beginners drive north for a lesson
Sebastian Inlet is one of the best waves on the East Coast, and that is exactly why it is a difficult place to learn. The inlet concentrates swell, the bottom is shallower than it looks, and the lineup is full of surfers who have been riding it for years. A first lesson there is mostly dodging people.
Cocoa Beach is the opposite by design. It is a long sandbar break where the inside reforms gently, the water is waist-deep where we teach, and there is room on the sand for a whole family to watch. It is the same Atlantic swell, arriving somewhere much more forgiving.
What we teach Treasure Coast surfers
Private one-on-one lessons are the fastest route to standing up: $99 for an hour or $169 for two, with an instructor watching only you. Kids lessons run from age 6 on soft-top boards sized to them, and family or group sessions start at three people.
Sessions run every day, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and we pick the calmest window on your date. Nothing is charged to request a time — we confirm your date and time first.
Getting here from Sebastian and Vero Beach
From Sebastian, US-1 north to SR 528 and east over the causeway is the quickest route at around 45 minutes. From Vero Beach, I-95 north to SR 528 then east takes about an hour and ten minutes, and both routes drop you onto A1A minutes from where we meet.
Your confirmation names the exact beach access point, where to park and where your instructor will be waiting on the sand, so there is no hunting for the right stretch of beach at the end of the drive.
Making a day of the drive
If you are coming up from the Treasure Coast, the morning lesson pairs well with a Space Coast day: the Cocoa Beach Pier and the surf shops along A1A are minutes away, Kennedy Space Center is about 35 to 45 minutes north, and the rocket launches are watched from this beach.
Surf early, eat on A1A, and drive home in the afternoon light. Most of our Treasure Coast guests treat it as a half-day out and are back before dinner.
