Surf Lessons near Sanford, Lake Mary & North Orlando
- About 50 minutes from Sanford
- From $99 per surfer
- Board, rash guard & wetsuit included
Sanford, Lake Mary, Longwood and the north Orlando suburbs are the closest inland neighbours we have to a real ocean. Orlando sits about 45 minutes west of us on the Beachline, and from the I-4 corridor you are on the sand in under an hour.
That makes a beginner surf lesson a genuine day trip rather than a holiday: a morning in waist-deep water on a soft sandbar, board, rash guard and wetsuit included, and you are back inland by mid-afternoon.
Getting here from Sanford & North Orlando
About 50 minutes from Sanford
- From Sanford and Lake Mary, take SR 417 south to SR 528 east, then follow the Beachline over the causeway to Cocoa Beach — about 50 minutes.
- From Deltona and DeBary, I-4 east to SR 417 then SR 528 east is the quickest line to the beach.
Your confirmation names the exact beach access point, where to park and where on the sand to meet your instructor.
Under an hour from Sanford
SR 417 to SR 528 east, roughly 50 minutes from Sanford and Lake Mary to our meeting spot.
The closest real ocean
No gulf chop, no theme-park wave pool — the Atlantic, with a coach, on a soft beginner sandbar.
Nothing to bring but a towel
Board, rash guard and wetsuit sized to you and waiting on the sand. Swimwear and sunscreen is the list.
A morning, not a whole day
Lessons start at 9:00 AM and every session is one or two hours, so the afternoon is still yours.
The closest ocean to the I-4 corridor
Daytona is marginally closer for some of the north metro, but the beach there allows vehicles on the sand and the shorebreak varies block to block. Cocoa Beach is the next real ocean down, with a long sandbar, an easy inside section and parking that does not depend on luck.
For a first surf lesson, the extra few minutes of driving buys a much more predictable hour in the water — which is the difference between standing up and being rolled around.
Lessons for adults, kids and groups
Private one-on-one lessons cost $99 for an hour and $169 for two. Kids from age 6 learn on soft-top boards sized to them in waist-deep water, and family or group sessions start at three surfers at $99 per person for an hour.
Corporate and team-building groups are a regular booking from the north Orlando suburbs: multiple instructors, boards and rash guards for everyone, and sessions quoted by group size. Everything is included, so nobody has to own gear to take part.
Getting here from Sanford, Lake Mary and Deltona
SR 417 south to SR 528 east is the usual route from Sanford and Lake Mary — about 50 minutes to the beach, with the causeway dropping you onto A1A in Cocoa Beach. From Deltona and DeBary, I-4 to SR 417 then SR 528 works the same way.
We send the exact beach access, the parking and where your instructor will be standing when we confirm, so you are not guessing where to stop at the end of the drive.
Making a day of it
Surf in the morning, then stay for the rest of the Space Coast: the Cocoa Beach Pier, the surf shops along A1A and downtown are minutes away, Kennedy Space Center is about 35 to 45 minutes north, and rocket launches are watched from this beach.
Most guests from the I-4 corridor surf at 9:00 AM, eat on A1A and are back inland before the afternoon traffic builds.
