Can parents surf in the same lesson as their children?

Yes. From three surfers, a family lesson runs everyone in the same session on the same stretch of beach, with coaching matched to each person: beginners in waist-deep water, confident surfers on the outside waves.

What age can children join a family lesson?

From six. Six to ten year olds usually stay in the shallows with an instructor holding the board steady, while older children and teenagers progress to paddling and riding on their own.

We are two people — one parent and one child. What should we book?

Book a kids lesson for your child and watch from the sand, or tell us both of you want to surf and we will confirm what we can put together. Family pricing starts at three surfers.

What if the children are very different ages or abilities?

That is the normal case. The briefing is shared, then the group splits by ability — younger or nervous children stay in the whitewash with an instructor, while teenagers and adults work the outside. Nobody is held back or pushed too fast.

Do grandparents and non-surfers come along?

Yes. We meet on a public beach, so family members who would rather stay dry can watch, take photos and keep the towels. No booking is needed for spectators.

What happens if the weather or surf turns?

We watch the forecast for you. If the wind swings onshore or the surf is beyond a beginner's level we offer another time in your holiday or another part of the beach, and requesting a time costs nothing.

What this lesson is really like

The best holiday photo is rarely the one taken from the sand. Family surf lessons put parents and children in the same session, on the same stretch of beach, with an instructor for each beginner and coaching matched to what each person can actually do.

Everyone starts on the sand together — beach and ocean safety first, then the pop-up practised until it feels automatic. From there the group splits naturally: first-timers and younger children stay in waist-deep whitewash with an instructor beside the board, while anyone with a bit of experience paddles out to the unbroken waves.

Children from age six are welcome, parents and teenagers surf alongside them, and grandparents are welcome to watch from the sand. Boards, rash guards and wetsuits are included for every surfer, so there is nothing to buy, hire or carry to the beach.
